GREEN AGAINST GRAY – EVERY SEEDLING IS IMPORTANT

Gray bothers us all. Too much concrete and asphalt make our everyday life monotonous. We long for the canopy, spacious fields, clean air, flowers and the smell of fresh grass. If each of us planted one plant, our capital would slowly turn into a green jungle. Fortunately, in recent years there have been more and more initiatives to plant plants, as well as individuals who, through their actions, encourage others to take action. More and more citizens are realizing the importance of green areas that enrich the city and make life in it healthier and better.

It is an interesting campaign initiated by our fellow citizens Milica Batrišćević and Marija Milošević, and Kaća Đorđević provided them with help in choosing plants. After talking about the condition of the greenery on Zvezdara, both agreed that the street is Dimitrija Tucović quite neglected and without enough trees. With the aim of greening this very busy street, it was organized action of planting flowers in empty planters. Our fellow citizens invited people to donate money for the purchase of seedlings. The response was satisfactory and a variety of fragrant flowers were purchased - lavender, rosemary, chrysanthemums, ericas, various shrubs and creepers. As many as 110 plants were planted in 33 planters! "The idea was to plant honey plants, which bees feed on, so the benefit is double!", adds Milica. Shortly after the action, a Facebook group was founded -  Green against grey, which brings together plant lovers.

As they say, everyone who loves nature and a hoe is welcome. Or at least nature. In the group, impressions and ideas are exchanged, it is intended for the local organization of planting flowers, bushes and trees. Members locate places suitable for redevelopment and agree on future actions. It also monitors the condition of the already planted plants and takes care of their watering and maintenance.
