Helping neighbors in the defense of common spaces is the focus of our team's work, since the creation of the organization in 2011.

Most often, it was the case that we were defending an area for which an urban plan was being drawn up (or had already been adopted), done without the involvement of the people who live in that area. Then we are already condemned to institutional defense, which in practice is reduced to papers, appeals, deadlines and counters - procedures that do not recognize something as alive as a neighborhood.

We start from the idea that our neighborhoods are not plots to be traded, but places to be used, nurtured and filled with life. In cooperation with associated neighborhood groups, and with the idea of ​​acting proactively together, we are launching the festival Rebellious neighbors. 

It was created with the idea of ​​working proactively together. To occupy public and common spaces and declare them what they are - ours.

But mapping is just the beginning. Space is not only defended with plans, petitions and legal filings – space is defended by being used, nurtured and filled with life. Where the neighborhood breathes, where children play, where the kettle is prepared, where coffee smells, where flowers are watered - it is more difficult to draw a bulldozer line there. That's why Rebel Neighborhoods are not only resistance, they are also confirmation: these are our neighborhoods, our parks, our meadows, our yards between buildings.

In the coming period, on this page we will follow a series of events that are part of this project. Neighbors from different parts of the city organize work actions, get-togethers, concerts, children's workshops and everything that makes a shared space come alive. 

Each of these events is small, but together they send a clear message: common spaces are not "unused land" for investors. They are the heart of the neighborhood. And as long as the neighbors come out to them, socialize, clean, arrange, care, play - they remain ours!
