PEDESTRIAN-CYCLIST BRIDGE: REMARKS

The draft PDR for the construction of a pedestrian-bicycle connection between Omladinskih Brigada Street and Ada Ciganlija is currently being publicly inspected. 

After a little more than a two-year break between public inspections, the Draft Plan for a pedestrian-cycling bridge that should connect the Novi Beograd blocks (45, 44, 70 and 70a) with Ada Ciganlija was presented to the public. As stated in the textual part of the Plan documentation, the reason for creating the Plan is the City's idea to move the Old Sava Bridge to a new location and build a new bridge over the Sava River on the site of the Old Sava Bridge. However, after the analysis for which the traffic institute CIP was engaged, it was concluded that the relocation of the existing Old Sava Bridge to the location of Ada Ciganlija - New Belgrade is technically feasible, but the economic profitability and visual effect of such relocation should be taken into account. It was also concluded that it is technically more correct to consider the construction of a completely new pedestrian-bicycle bridge, designed as an elegant, light and optimal construction. In addition to the conceptual design of the new bridge, which is an integral part of the planning documentation, the Plan also foresees the construction of a public parking lot in the immediate vicinity of the bridge for the needs of visitors and residents of the surrounding buildings.

Important: there is no criterion for the "expertise" of objections and the planning commission must consider each one as equally important because even when they are not "expert" and do not refer to laws, regulations, etc. they represent the attitude of citizens and are therefore valid and significant for urban planning.
